Sam Sarpong, Ghanaian-British Model to receive Fashion Icon Award at BEFFTA UK 2013


At a recent press event for the 65th Emmy Awards, Sam Sarpong announced that he will be receiving the 2013 Fashion Icon award at the 2013 BEFFTA UK Awards.

Sam made history by becoming the first black male model to appear in an international editorial campaign for Louise Vuitton. He has also worked with designers such as Versace, Donna Karen, Dolce & Gabbana, Jean Phillippe and Ed Hardy and has started his own clothing line, Future Stars Collection. Sarpong is also an actor and  has also featured in movies like Nigerian production Anchor Baby and American thriller Farm House. He currently hosts on BET (Black Entertainment Television).

The star is expected to pick up the special award in London at the 5th annual BEFFTA UK anniversary celebration on Friday 25th October 2013 in the presence of an international audience and several stars from entertainment, film, fashion, television and arts in Europe, Africa, US and Asia.

The Black Entertainment Film Fashion Television and Arts Awards UK (BEFFTA UK) honours inspiring individuals who have achieved amazing heights in a list of categories, previous recipients of the BEFFTA UK special honorary awards include the legendary broadcaster SirTrevor McDonald OBE and  Nigerian actress,  Omotola Jalade-Ekeindde.
