Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie Nominated for The Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction


The Nigerian author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie  is one of 20 women nominated for the Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction for her lastest book- Americanah.

The Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction  (previously called Women's Prize for Fiction (2013), Orange Prize for Fiction (2008–12) and Orange Broadband Prize for Fiction (1996–2008) is one of the United Kingdom's most prestigious literary prizes, annually awarded to a female author of any nationality for the best original full-length novel written in English, and published in the United Kingdom in the preceding year

Chimamanda is the only Nigerian and African nominated. The prize comes with an award of 30,000 pounds or $ 50,000.

She has previously won the competition for her second novel, Half of a Yellow Sun.

Six finalists will be announced on April 7th, 2014  and winner will be revealed on June 4th, 2014
